The legendary megadungeon is here at last!

More than thirteen levels and 1,500 keyed encounters of perils, monsters, traps, and treasure to bedevil your players. Find levels of warring humanoids, the deadly Arena, ancient artifacts, lost temples, portals to other worlds, and the ultimate secret of the dungeons... the Mad Archmage himself.

Originally released as a free electronic book in serial format, the Castle of the Mad Archmage has been completely revised, expanded, and updated. It is a complete adventuring environment, from the surface ruins to the deepest caves and caverns.

You and your players could literally spend years exploring the dungeons beneath the Castle and still not discover everything. It can accomodate characters from first to fifteenth experience level and beyond.

Castle of the Mad Archmage is written using the Adventures Dark and Deep™ rules, and is compatible with most Old School type rules with little or no conversion needed.

Note: You must also purchase the Adventure Book and the Illustration Book in order to run this adventure.

No, unfortunately. There just hasn't been a lot of demand for it. If more people ask, it might well happen.

Unfortunately I have no idea. I don't use it myself and don't know the system.

Perhaps someone else with more knowledge of Roll20 will be able to help you.

Wish I could help!

I actually figured it out while waiting for your response: I copied the pages in Sumatra PDF, then stitched them together in Photoshop.

Thank you anyway!

Although this mapbook is fine for printing on regular letter sized pages, many of the levels are split in half across two pages, making it impractical to do poster-sized prints for the levels, if one were wanting to do that.

There are other dungeons available as pdf on rpgnow/drivethruprg which put entire large levels on oversized pages that can be printed out as giant posters, if desired. I am disappointed that this module did not do something similar.

It's an interesting idea. I'm sorry to say it's not my top priority, but I'll put it on the to-do list.

If you need the Map Book, the Adventure Book and the Illustration Book in order to run the adventure why sell them separately?

It's a technical limitation of RPGNow/DriveThruRPG. I would bundle it if they let me, but they can't do that right now.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
