Japan: Empire of the Setting Sun

In the Empire of the Setting Sun, honor is everything...or you are nothing. Welcome to the Japan of 2090, nakama. You’re being given access to a secure data cache that reveals what the country and its people have truly evolved into. Here, “ronin” isn’t just a street nickname, but a dark legacy fraught with deadly peril and crushing burdens. From the highest Zen master to the lowliest yakuza thug, from bio-molded cities to ancestral cyberspace vistas, prepare to be plunged into an empire transformed by its unique cultural identity as much as the world’s rampaging technology.

Delve into the DATAfeeds of the Chrysanthemum Corporation or have your appetites whetted by the orbital pleasure palace of Golden Heaven. Master stealth technology to join the shinobi or defend innocents from the ravages of the Setting Sun cult. Whether you’re a mere robotics tech or descend from Japanese royalty itself, the time has come to choose your path. The gates are open. The temple bells are tolling a new era. The main question now is: Do you have the wits, will, strength, and skill to survive and take control of your own legacy?

At this point, I'd want a credit for the PDF I bought on the cost of the POD. It's been way too long, and I finally broke down and bought the PDF.

Print (& PDF) bundles of your Sourcebooks and Adventures would be a very nice thing!!
Melior Via is doing this with Accursed and it's pretty awesome.

Got the hardcopy of the main rules, must say that I like what I've seen. Is the Japan book going to be released in hardcopy as well or is it pdf only?

It's not ready for POD just yet, guys, and I haven't put it into distribution yet. IU'll be sending out a mailing when it becomes available here.

I'd be interested in hc, if not too expensive. Even tho I don't use SW.

Hm. I read a little more, and I see this is a supplement for Interface Zero. But there was also a True20 Interface Zero. I don't play Savage Worlds, I play 1st ed AD&D. Any plans to produce a True20 version of this Japan book? Then I could get True20 Interface Zero, and the True20 book from Green Ronin, and actually have a game (instead of just buying the SW Japan book to pick apart for inspiration with a different rpg system).

Saw on Facebook that you were looking into working on Interface Zero 3.0. Curious if PoD is going to be available for any of these sourcebooks. Any word on that?

Is a physical book available? Will I soon have the option to order it here or do I have to go through my FLGS?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
