Well, i like some of the stuff in this book.

Yet once again i'm forced to wonder if anyone at DDS understands how pathfinder's bleed rules work. Because i think someone there thinks the moment bleed is applied they take damage; even though thats not how it works; bleed is a status ailment, and when its applied does not deal damage, damage does not occur until on the target creature's turn start, and at no other time does bleed deal damage.
Even then there seems to be a bit of confusion on their part between the difference between "bleed damage" and "damage from bleeding", but lets ignore that piece for now.

Just looking at their barbed dart talent, the creature takes bleed damage from the initial effect, then says they can't heal the bleed till the dart is removed as a full round.
The issue is then it specifies as a swift they can remove it, but they take 1d6 bleed damage. Issue being is
1. this doesn't stack with the bleed they did originally with...See more

According to the author (Hydronz on the DDS Discord), the 1d6 for removing the dart quickly is intended to stack with the initial bleed, and it will probably be rephrased in the future: "...but removing the dart increases the bleed inflicted by this talent by 1d6."

Yeah, they should probably have caught that in the first pass, but that's why it's nice to have direct access to the authors.

That makes more sense, honestly based on how some of their other content they've had i've started to think there was a general misunderstanding on how bleed worked within the community.

Haemophilic venom suffers from a similar issue. I won't try to type it out all here because this will become a massive post, but the 1st part's wording is odd (aka the way its worded you could interpret it as affecting the bleed debuff when its applied meaning when the poison ends as long as the bleed is still going the damage increase doesn't disappear) and the crit effect runs into extra stacking/timing issues because it happens at a completely different point than the 1st half and doesn't call out if it increases ongoing bleed, it just uses a generic "additional" to describe it.

And in response to the discord/direct access part; I'll never step near that discord again. Got sick of it being full of individuals who regularly tried to push absolutely unbalanced/broken changes in, or would actively...See more

Hello! (Author Here, doesn't say on my name yet unfortunately)

I completely understand the issues with some of the wording when it comes to the talents associated with bleed damage (and will be fixed as soon as I can).
I thankfully do understand how bleed damage works, but unfortunately didn't communicate my understanding enough with these examples XD

As much as I doubt I can change your mind, the Discord can be a great source to communicate with authors and get things fixed; I've personally not seen any moderators supporting the kind of behaviour you have seen, and, at least personally, the comments that people make on the various playtest are all taken on board, and all with a pinch of salt.
That said, I appreciate your comments; and hopefully we can see you giving the various playtests that are happening at the moment a look to provide your insights too; authors can miss the simple things as well, we look at thousands upon thousands of words, it can only be human to have...See more

Laurence's quoted "rephrasing" just...makes the author's lack of understanding even more clear. The only purpose to removing the dart as a swift action is to enable healing the bleed in that same round. So the additional 1d6 bleed damage will never have time to occur.

I feel like spending an entire Full-round action is also incredibly taxing. That said yeah the extra bleed may not come up in certain situations, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it would 'never' occur.
Although, it could probably use a buff now that I look at it 1.5 years later. I'm not going to sit here and say that my work back then is the same quality as it is now, but it's a bit insulting to hear people insinuating that I just simply didn't understand the mechanics of bleed XD, especially in a system as intricate as Pathfinder is.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
