Stars Without Number Compatible - Dresdner Multipurpose Corvette

The Dresdner is a multipurpose corvette that can be used for a variety of missions in the Stars Without Number universe. It is a modified version of an old Dominion patrol ship that was captured by a hobgoblin clan during the secession war of the outer colonies. The Dresdner has been repaired and upgraded by the hobgoblins, who have added their own unique touches to the vessel.

The Dresdner is a perfect choice for adventurers, smugglers, pirates, mercenaries, or anyone who needs a reliable and adaptable ship in the stars. It can handle combat, exploration, trade, infiltration, and more. The Dresdner is ready to take you where you want to go.

DECK 1

Deck 1 of the Dresdner is the main deck of the corvette, where most of the systems and weapons are located. It contains the main engine, the main power core, the engineer quarters, the life support, the war rooms, the EMP cannon arrays, the storage areas, the torpedo bays, the gathering point, the forward chain cannons, the armory, the boarding deck, the elevators, and the ram. Deck 1 is where the hobgoblin crew lives, works, and fights. It is a busy and chaotic place, full of noise, smoke, and metal. Deck 1 is the heart and soul of the Dresdner.

  • Main engine: The Dresdner’s main engine is an old thruster that has been meticulously maintained by the hobgoblin engineers. It gives the corvette a speed of 2 and decent maneuverability. The engine has been patched up many times, but the engineers know every inch of it.
  • -Main power core: The power core is the original one from the Dominion ship, but it has been repaired and modified so much that it looks like a mess of pipes, wires, and patches. However, it still works and powers the corvette’s systems and weapons. The power core is essential for the Dresdner’s functionality.
  • Engineer quarters: The 10 engineers who keep the Dresdner running sleep in these quarters, which are close to the power core. They are always ready to spring into action if there is a problem or a battle. The quarters are cramped but cozy.-LAVATORY: The lavatories are shared between all the engineers, kind of a luxury compared to most of the crew.
  • Aft chain cannon: The Dresdner has a chain cannon mounted on its aft, which can fire a barrage of metal projectiles at a high rate. The chain cannon is operated by a gunner who can aim and fire it from a console in the war room.
  • Life support: The Dresdner’s life support system provides fresh air and regulates the temperature inside the corvette. The engineers have enhanced its efficiency to support a crew of 70 units, which is more than the original design. The life support system is located near the engineer quarters and can be accessed for maintenance or emergency.
  • War rooms: The Dresdner has two war rooms, one on each side of the corvette. Each war room hosts a console that controls one of the EMP cannon arrays. The consoles are networked with all the other consoles on board, allowing the science officer to coordinate the weapon systems. The science officer can also focus all the computing power of the consoles to increase the accuracy of the torpedoes or the EMP cannons, but this will prevent any other weapon from firing due to lack of computing power.
  • Starboard and port EMP cannon arrays: The Dresdner has two EMP cannon arrays, one on each side of the corvette. Each array consists of four EMP cannons that can fire pulses of electromagnetic energy that can disable or damage electronic systems. The EMP cannons are used after the enemy shields have been depleted, and before boarding the enemy ship, to incapacitate all the enemy systems. The EMP cannons can also perform a special action called Shock’em to da bones!, which overcharges the ship’s electric components and systems, causing massive damage and disruption. However, this action requires a lot of energy from the Dresdner’s power core, so no other weapon can fire while performing it.
  • Storage areas: The Dresdner has three storage areas where it keeps crates of loot and spare parts. Each storage area has a capacity of 54 metric tons. The storage areas are located near the torpedo bays and the shuttle bay, for easy loading and unloading.
  • Torpedo bays: The Dresdner has six torpedo launchers, three on each side of the corvette. Each launcher is operated by a gunner who can aim and fire it from a console in the war room. Each launcher has its own ammo room where 8 torpedoes are stored. The torpedoes are powerful explosives that can pierce through shields and hulls.
  • Gathering point: This is where the hobgoblin marauders gather before boarding an enemy ship. They prepare their weapons and gear, and wait for the ram to pierce the enemy hull. It usually takes 1d4 rounds for the ram to create a breach, depending on the enemy ship’s armor and resistance. If the captain senses that the boarding will be difficult, he may send the elite soldiers, who are the best fighters among the hobgoblins.
  • Storage area 1: This is another storage area where the Dresdner keeps its loot and spare parts. It has a capacity of 24 metric tons. It is located near the forward chain cannons and the armory, for easy access and distribution.
  • Storage area 2: This storage area contains ammunition for the chain cannons. It has a capacity of 27 metric tons. One round of ammunition weighs 1 metric ton. This storage area serves all the chain cannons on the Dresdner, which are located on the aft, forward, starboard, and port sides of the corvette.
  • Forward chain cannons: The Dresdner has four chain cannons mounted on its forward side, which can fire a barrage of metal projectiles at a high rate. The chain cannons are operated by gunners who can aim and fire them from consoles in the war rooms. The forward chain cannons are part of the Dresdner’s main firepower, along with the aft chain cannon. However, if the Dresdner is in a position where only the forward chain cannons can fire, their damage is reduced to 1d3 instead of 1d3+1, due to their limited angle and range.
  • Armory: The armory contains heavy and assault weapons that are ready to be used before a battle. The weapons include rifles, shotguns, grenades, rocket launchers, and more. The weapons are distributed among the marauders before they enter the breach caused by the ram. Normally, the crew is not allowed to carry heavy or assault weapons, except for the elite soldiers, who have exclusive access to the armory and are in charge of distributing the weapons.
  • Boarding deck: The boarding deck is where the hobgoblin marauders move from the gathering point once the ram has penetrated the enemy ship’s hull. Four doors open, granting access inside the enemy deck, while six heavy machine guns provide cover fire to the marauders. Each heavy machine gun works like a submachine gun as described in the Stars Without Number Core Rulebook, except it deals 3d4 damage.
  • Elevators: The elevators connect deck 1 to deck 2 and each one can carry up to six medium sized humanoids or 9 metric tons of stuff. The elevators are located near the main engine and the main power core, for easy maintenance and transportation.
  • Ram: The ram is a chunk of metal used to ram enemy ships. It causes 5d4 damage to enemy hulls or to any artificial structure. The ram allows the Dresdner to perform an action called “Ram! RAM! RAAAM’EM!”, which is usually performed when the captain wants to intercept an enemy vessel, by ramming its hull, opening a breach, and then boarding it.

The Dresdner is not only a powerful and versatile corvette, but also a fascinating and rich place to explore. Deck 1 is just the beginning of the adventure. There are two more decks to visit, each with its own features and secrets. Deck 2 is where the captain, the science officer, and the elite soldiers have their quarters, as well as the bridge, the med bay, the lab, and the shuttle bay. Deck 3 is where the rest of the crew sleeps, eats, and relaxes, as well as the cargo bay, the escape pods, and the cloaking device. The Dresdner has much more to offer than meets the eye. If you want to discover all its wonders, you need to get this product and see for yourself.

Three Decks of ship, adventure hooks and some NPC stats make this a really good buy. Not an adventure, but it lays out a good space for adventurers and a GM for a military campaign or an infiltration mission. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
