PURCHASER

Just got the product, and on a quick read thru I was almost giddy with the ways I can incorporate these well crafted supplements to my familys game time. I am wondering what the time frame, as I read above where you would incorporate the fantasy companion into the books, would be? And would we need to re purchase them or the original files would be updated?

Hi Michael.

You won't have to rebuy the suplements. I'll add the FC-compatible version to the existing products (as a separate file, however the non-FC versions will no longer get an update, only the FC-version will get updates).

For the time frame, it's harder to tell. That's a lot of work. I have started Tomes & Prayers, but far from finished. And they won't go out before FC is officially out.

I see Tomes and Prayers has been updated to be compatible with the Fantasy Companion. Any updates on a timeline for the rest of the books? In particular I'm starting a new campaign and it will have a wizard.

I am really looking into those add-ons, little I understant from description seems really great!
The only drawback is my players are french and have hard times understanding english....
Have you considered into translating those? :)

Any thoughts on making sci-fi flavors?

Hi,

Many of the powers, arcane backgrounds and edges proposed in those fantasy add-ons can be used for sci-fi. e.g. you could use suggest, leap, levitate, sense beings, to play a jedi. Trappings also go a long way to use them in sci-fi.

However, those add-ons are designed for fantasy and so do not cover many of the sci-fi tropes. e.g. in Companions & Familiars I propose no "guns" or "mortars" or "X-ray vision" for companions (droids, drones, robots) abilities.
While I love cyberpunk, I rarely play any other sci-fi genres, and my groups mostly refuse to play outside of fantasy. So I have no way to playtest anything for sci-fi, so I will not produce content specialized for sci-fi. I'm sorry.

If I find a designer with a knack for sci-fi, we could consider doing cyperpunk or space opera or other genre add-ons series. Yet, there are so many things one can publish and so little spare time (publishing for the community comes after my family...See more

Question - Is it possible to have these printed via DTRPG Print on Demand or via Lulu? I prefer hardcopies and know all would be watermarked with DTRPG account receipt, but I believe it requires the designer/publisher's authorization for a professional service to print and bind.

Hello Roger. On DTRPG it needs to be a specific format which I haven't addressed yet. It's planned but I haven't started yet. I plan on releasing Tomes & Prayers powers as Power Cards first. For Lulu, I'm not sure what it would need, I'll ask and see if this can be allowed too.

So. You would be allowed to print on Lulu.

I'm using US Letter 8.5 x 11 inch format.
You can't sell it yourself there (because you are not the author), but you can make it private and print it for yourself.
I can't sell it there myself, because the Savage Worlds Adventurer's Guild licence (the community program my books are delivered through) must be sold only on Drivethru RPG.

However, my PDFs are not perfect for lulu. I'm using single pages (not double page, that is, my pages are not facing, e.g. the page number is always on bottom right).
Also I didn't include the bleed in my PDF, and Lulu requires it (the bleed is a section where the cut in the paper can be done, and since the machines aren't very precise you need to have a bit more color on the side just in case the machine cuts a bit too large). They are also missing gutter (a space where the pages are stuck together in middle of the book, the text should be far from the gutter or it gets lost inside the fold...See more

Thanks so much for the information!

I'll hold off and see if you get a POD option so I can continue to support. As mentioned previously, I just prefer working from hard copy and a professional print job seemed a much better option than trying to print it all out myself.
