Barrow of the Warrior Prince - A Toxandria Adventure

The adventurers arrive at a low hill. An ash tree grows from its top, and a clear, cold stream passes its base. At the foot of the hill is a large stone that used to cover the mouth of a cave. Or is it a cave? The stone and the cave entrance have tool marks on them.

Long ago the Esuvii laid to rest the warrior son of their chieftain in a tomb they carved from the bones of this hill. Outside, the world—and the Esuvii—moved on. The forests through which the prince had  hunted were felled, the land put to the plough. During centuries of Empire, the hill transformed slowly, until it was covered with new foliage.

The tomb was forgotten…until the adventurers find it.

Barrow of the Warrior Prince is a short fantasy adventure using Toxandria, the first game released under Chaosium Inc's Basic Roleplaying OGL. While the adventure is firmly placed in Toxandria, you can play it as a stand-alone, one-shot game using the BRP rules.

The Setting

In the North, a long wall separates the Known World from Beyond. In the South, the crumbled remains of a worldspanning empire. To the West, the raging, endless sea. To the East, the wind-swept, endless steppes.

Islands of civilization and plenty are separated by wild places and the sea. The Imperial Mile and the Great East Road still run straight and true, built so cunningly by the Baessesseans that no blade of grass grows between their stones, but to either side is wilderness and monster-haunted ruin. It is said by the lore-masters in the Geabez Enclave that great and mysterious magics and artifacts lie in old Baessessean ruins, along with heaps of gold and jewels, there for bold and hardy souls to claim. 

At the center of it all is the city of Ereslus, home to the various factions that contend for power.

This is the World as we know it. This is Toxandria: the Three Kingdoms, in which dwell the Free Peoples.

The Game

Based on Chaosium Inc.'s Basic Roleplaying OGL, Toxandria is not just a setting, it's also a complete game! The rules are simple, easy to learn, and tried and tested through decades of play in a multitude of formats. The tweaks we've made to make Toxandria special are minimal, and have been thoroughly tested.

Toxandrian characters are custom-tailored to a player's concept. Professions specifically designed to evoke the setting's flavor are included, as well as form-fillable PDF character sheets!

The Foes section includes dozens of monsters and villains for you to custom-tailor your Toxandria game. The setting lore section includes dozens of NPCs, locations, adventure ideas, and story hooks for your group to begin spinning fantastic tales at once.
