Space Knights is a science fiction roleplaying game about alien invasions, mighty warriors and desperate battles in the dark future. The player characters in Space Knights are no individuals but the companies of an Order of Elite Warriors in a time when humankind has spread through the galaxy and fights for survival. Space Knights uses a PbtA-based system and contains everything you need to play. 

You will cross the galaxy, taking on the battles that no one else can fight. You will face ruthless aliens, explore desolated worlds and perform terrible deeds just to give humankind one more day before extinction. You will overcome these challenges by the might of your arm and soul… or you will face a destiny worse than death.

Hello Gabriel

I have started working on a google sheet for Space Knights so that I can easily play online since none of my "live" acquaintances are interested and a some question came up:

Why are darkness tags stronger than normal tags? They seem to give advantage/disadvantage like any other tag.

What does it look like in the narrative/the reason, for a tag being unavailable when used and then "resetting" when all of them have been used?

Also, is it rightly understood that the more tags the company acquires, the longer it will take before the tags reset?

Fair points. The answer to all these are more or less in 3 categories:
A) No intention to be balanced. It´s a story telling game about war, not a wargame.
B) Fiction first. Rules are one thing but the main point is the fiction the players and the game master create. Moves come from Fiction, not the other way.
C) All right, I have to change that. I am not perfect, some things have passed unnoticed.

DESTROYERS: their skill is that they are very good (better than anyone) in supporting other companies. They give Advantage (roll 3d6, keep 2) on a 7-13. Other companies doing the same only allow to repeat one dice (roll 2d6, re-roll one) on 7-9 and need 10+ to give Advantage. I have seen creative uses of this out of combat (one player stated that another companie was in trouble because wasn´t agreeing with a non playing captain and helped him in a "social" move through intimidation). UNBREAKABLE Brotherhood
Aah.. I see.. I am not much for that since, as far as I understood, you can only reroll the lowest (using tags or using Unbreakable Brotherhood). I imagene Capacities and tags is a big thing in this game and will probably come up often. So I see many situations where Unbreakable Brotherhood can't be used/be ineffective: If a company where using their Servitor tag but failed even after a reroll, other companies would have to roll a 13+ to be able to help. If they don't nothing happens.. Unless they were the Destroyer or Armoured company type.

ARMOURED
So, by evacuate the rules mean the other company "doesn't achieve what they were trying, but doesn't suffer the direct bad effects of the miss"? Not sure how to incorporate that with the "In the Name of Humankind" or other moves.. But I can try and see when it comes up.

I also just noticed something that seems like it might not need to be mentioned:

You cannot advance a Stat beyond +3 (like in other pbta games), but as far as I can see, it isn't possible even without the text. You can only increase a stat once, and the one with the highest stat is a +2. So once that has been increased to +3, no other stat can be increased further anyway.

There is an experience advance that gives you +1 to one attribute. That would be the only way to get the maximum attribute.
Statistically, re-rolling a dice is more or less the same as +1 and Advantage equals +2 approx. Using several of those mechanics and attributes gives you bonus better than +3.

There no absolute rules in PbtA games. The ruleset is vague on purpose.

Unbreakable Brotherhood:
Regarding re-rolling a dice, depends on who is calling it. If it's you, you choose the dice (usually a low one). If it's the SM, he/she does (usually a high one). Any dice can be repeated only once (but you could repeat all dices applying enough tags/supplies). It's in the tag's explanations.
The movement states "help another company in trouble". "In trouble" could be many things, from being outnumbered to be lost in space. Almost anything that comes from rolling 6- could be called trouble, therefore there are many ways to help as long as they make sense with the fiction (you can't do much if you are surrounded by the enemy in the other side of the planet, for example).
On a 7+, any non-Destroyer company gives a re-roll of ONE dice. If that's not good enough, the troubled company can spend Supplies to re-roll the other.

I have a couple questions regarding the game:

** Destroyers, Armoured & Unbreakable Brotherhood **
Destroyers "special", doesn't seem to do anything. They give advantage on a 7+ on the move, but the move already does that. So not sure what it was meant to do.
Armoured has an alternate effect to evacuate another company and I am really unsure of how to read that.

Like, if a Assault company got a 5 on their "Always War" roll, and an Armoured got 8 on Unbreakable Brotherhood and said they wanted to evacuate the Assault?
The Assault does not reroll (no advantage), they mark Glory (miss), the SM does a hard move (it was a miss) and the Armoured evacuates the Assault afterward to a location they describe?

** Quest**
It says Armoured don't get delayed but I am having a hard time seeing how being an armoured unit prevents a delay in discovering a clue or similar.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
