What size are the hexes? Per hex? One inch?

Hey James! The digital hexes here are 524px x 452px. We sell magnetic versions of them on our website to make whiteboard hex maps. Those ones are about an inch and a half. I hope this helps!

Would you like to know if it looks good for printing?

These tiles are fantastic! I am using Gimp to assemble a full hex map. My one suggestion would be to have a river and roads supplement with a wide variety of river sizes going through a variety of terrain. The rivers that are included here are much larger than what I'm looking for, and I would love to some river sections that are more the size of the stream in the Wilderness set. Having those rivers (and roads) on the same tiles as other terrain, including towns and cities, would a great addition.

These are great tiles. Is there a good hex tool that snaps them into place to create a good VTT map quickly? I'm finding Roll20 rather cumbersome right now. Thanks!

Thank you and I'm so glad you like them! We don't have one set tool to recommend. Many people use Photoshop. For the maps I create with them for Sandbox Adventures, I use a phone app called Bazaart because they "snap together" in the app just like you say. Someone else recently shared on our discord how he's been using them through Hexographer. Here's the link to our Discord if your interested. https://discord.gg/D9nD68mxaD And finally, we made a YouTube with best practices for using them in Roll20. You can check that out here: https://youtu.be/zuECPpyWelY

Steve, VTTs aren't generally great map-makers, and I can see why it would be cumbersome to try to assemble a map in Roll20. You should definitely take a look at MapForge (http://www.mapforge-software.com/).
This Hexplorer set is even available specifically for MapForge: https://www.mapforge-software.com/product/hexplorer/

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
