Wow, wow, WOW! This was quite the read! I personally love the Akashic system with all my heart and soul, and Hal is a bit of a hero to me, so please take this review with that bias in mind.

That being said: I feel that the class and the features are well written (excepting a few necessary clarifications, and typos) though as a primarily support player I did feel that the native support (pun intended) for such playstyles was a bit lacking. Though I understand that not every class should be able to fit every character concept, it might've been nice to see a few veils that played upon the fleshsculpting aspect of the class and grant a few more kinds of buffs, as currently you're limited to "Benign telepathic tumor", and "Oh look, we're in your dreams now!". (I love both veils, don't misunderstand my statements).

Nothing in Promethean is tied intrinsically to City of the Seven Seraphs and you should be able to fit it in any sort of setting where its maddening presence won't stand out too much!

As for the support stuff: I hit the word count wall *hard* on this release. I had to force myself to stop adding things and to polish the book, or else I would have just continued to iterate forever without it ever releasing (and with a word count so astronomically large it would have never been feasible to release)! A lot of ideas I wanted to add got left on the cutting room floor because of this, sadly.

I am planning to expand their release with an "official" free veil list expansion via Studio M— soon which will help with their selection of support veils, at the very least, and I plan to pitch an expansion book to Promethean to Lost Spheres in the future! Nice class and very nice idea, but (Zone of imho and my bad english starts) his is very toned down in some parts:

- Adaptationist is mediocre. He dont bring something that want me to use him and not other classes (like Parasite). His capstone not so good too.

- Fleshsculptor... I played "warper" characters for ages and this variant for me is ultra huge insult.
Subclass can temporary (i know) fleshwarp a number of creatures = his mod Int and give 1-2-3 fleshcrafts. But they not worth it, just warp a perfect fly speed and you good to go. Very shallow list and with this restrictions - its not worth at all. Touch attack line is good.

You can simply exchange them for veilshifting and became stronger.

There are some places where I was intentionally a bit conservative with the power level, notably in the lower-level options for Adaptationist and Fleshsculptor, due to Akashic Magic's ability to make lower level characters really powerful if not balanced well.

I am sorry to hear you think they aren't worth it, but maybe try playing around by combining them with the classes veil list to see if you can find a combo that is fun, since they were balanced around the classes ability to shape veils as well :). I had a ton of fun playing a Fleshsculptor in my home games during playtesting, and it led to some really interesting, fun and strange situations with some of its unique abilities!

I dont know what to do with Adaptationist, but with Fleshsculptor i just change what he do. So now he can warp at creature up to 3 veils from his list, every of this veils receive a "fleshwarp" descriptor and he can warp them with free (bolted down to veil) essence. So at 12 level i can warp 2 veils with 3 essence each, at level 20 its a 3 binded veils with 5 essence each. Every of his own veils has a "fleshwarp" descriptor (even veils from feats receives it), so he cant warp them on himself, but receive +2 shapes. This change make him more competitive with other non-veil classes (looking at you, Black Blade Magus) and make him more closer to became eldritch horror.

I *ABSOLUTELY* loved writing this class and this book! The Promethean is my baby, and its quite possibly my favourite thing I have written to date!

This book was a culmination of a lot of my loves and favourite aesthetics in the RPG genre; eldritch horror, body horror, flesh warping and more come together in this book!

For those uninitiated: The Promethean is a medium-BaB d8 Veilweaver who gains access to two unique class mechanics: Obsessions, and Forbidden Knowledge.

Obsessions grant the Promethean a number of unique abilities, split between an offensive/active set and a defensive/passive/utility set for each obsession.

The Adaptationist focuses on mutating and altering their own form for both offense and defense, allowing them to take on the role of a bruiser and dish out damage using their natural weapons while altering their body to survive in harsh and dangerous conditions.

The Doppelgänger focuses on...See more altering their body to take on the appearance of others, unnerving creatures by taking their form to deliver devastating and unexpected strikes, stealing the appearances from corpses, and eventually taking on even more monstrous and dangerous forms.

The Fleshsculpter, as its name implies, learns to master the art of sculpting their own and their allies flesh to grant new abilities and improvements, and gains a particularly dangerous touch attack that can rend and alter the flesh of their foes.

The Thoughthunger alters their body and mind to hunt down and feast on the thoughts of living creatures, using their short-range tendrils to burrow into the minds of living beings and eventually learning to consume those minds entirely to delve into their memories.

Forbidden Knowledge is a new type of selectable talent, granting the Promethean new way to use their essence for ancient and secretive powers and abilities that weren't meant for mortal minds.

Also available to the Promethean, and other veilweavers are four new sets of veils and one new type of veil: the fleshwarp veil!

Fleshwarp veils alter the veilweaver's flesh itself rather than forming as a construct of magic, granting them a number of alterations and benefits compared to a normal veil!

With the Dreams of Power veil set you can tap into the power of the realm of dreams to alter your own dreams, visit the dream realm, or inflict nightmares upon your foes!

With the Shapes of the Primordial veil set you can alter your flesh with a variety of useful utility and defensive fleshwarps, altering your modes of movement, expanding your mind, and allowing you to hide your presence through camouflaged skin!

With the Trappings of the Old Gods you can tap into the ancient powers of elder gods, shaping veils not meant for mortal beings to wield. Embody the powers of the gate to warp space around you, embrace the ability to spawn the beastmother's brood, or tap into the aspects of the deep ones!

With the Warsculpter’s Menagerie veil set you can call upon a slew of combat-focused fleshwarps, granting yourself carapace armor, acid-tinged spine-launchers, and metamorhpic weapons!
