I ran this at a drop in Adventurer's League game last night. This was a fantastic module, with lots of opportunities to test combat mettle as well as engage in enjoyable role playing. one of the players was a Zhentarim, so I provided that player with a "note" to hook them into the game. This led to some fun tension with the other players suspecting something shady was afoot while the Zhent character steered the decisions without fully explaining why. As the story gradually revealed itself the players "in the dark" had lots of "oooo so THAT's why..." moments (and the Zhent player got lots of smug "I knew all along..." moments - this was a hoot and the table had fun). The players loved roleplaying the court scene, and there was a real suspense about whether the situation would be resolved through diplomacy or combat.

The backstory is very rich. I would recommend the DM read this mod through several times and make some margin notes for the key points. I tended to abbreviate some of the boxed or reveal it through conversation rather than reading it. The rich context was excellent both for adding history and colour to the magic item, as well as moral ambiguity and a strange empathy for the undead!

I did beef up the final encounter due to party composition, and there were moments of genuine panic for some of the squishier characters!

Highly recommend this one!

This module was an absolute blast to run as an Adventurers League one-shot. It was clear on what needed to be done, as well as how everything should go. While some adventurers can go the peaceful route with things, if there is that one player that has a desire for combat, then this has an option to allow them to do so and still take care of the quest and adventur goals. This is deffinatly one worth picking up as a fun Tier 2 Adventure to run within almost any campaign.

Great atmospheric adventure. The geography is a bit unclear and inconsistent in the opening portions, but the story really comes together as the party finds and investigates the barrows. There map of the barrow is also a bit confusing and inconsistent with the text, but this can be more easily handwaved by the DM than some of the timing of where different NPCs are on the road in the early portions.

Really enjoyed the storyline and the roleplay opportunity. Combats were balanced yet the final fight proved to be a good challenge to my party. well written mod., The riddle was really easy and the first combat can be a little hard to keep track of. Still, looking forward to any additions to the storyline of adventures

This is an ecellent adventure. Fairly easy to prepare with plenty of content to scratch the social and combat itch of the game. Not really anything that covers exploration sadly but that may ust be the way my players played.

It's very wordy, the authors are very impressed with the lore they have made here about the Knights of Dawnfire, which results in a hell of a lot of exposition in boxed text.

Some of the organistaion in the final part is wonky, where it isn't clear when the players should find out that there is a trial going on - I would have put that section later in the chapter. The players are also epected to have an opportunity to explore one of the rooms but it isn't clear that they should then move forwards to the trial.

I like the idea of the trial a lot but it's far too easy for the players to just focus on saving the kids and ignoring the other prisoners. It's also too easy to 'win' - the inustice is incredibly obvious and the twist that the judges are being controlled a little too obvious.

A lot of criticism I admit but the adventure is still very good.

The module is good in a sense that it offers rp and creative ways to bypass most of the encounters. It starts off with a fight and a mystery to solve, then goes into a mini dungeon area where you have lots of choices as to what happens. If the party is really powerful, you can ramp up the last encounter. As a result, my group completed this module in about 2 hours since they bypassed a lot of encounters. Still pretty good and there is a nice magic item to boot.

This adventure is a blast. It's very well-written, and the block text sections provide excellent detail without feeling clunky. (And dialogue in the block text actually sounds like something a real person would or could say!)

The combats are challenging and cleverly arranged, and a good chunk of the adventure rewards creative thinking and strong roleplaying--so much so that it's possible to bypass some grueling combat. I love adventures that provide different approaches to situations.

I enjoyed this enough that I'm excited to run it again!

HAPPY 4am ADVENTURERS! (lol) Barrows of Solina is a great mod! Both as a DM and a player! I had the good fortune to be both in three days time! The scene opens with a call for hero's and the need for aid in an assault against the countryside! Undead are raiding in misguided righteous fury! Hero's take to the cause and delve into a crypt to find the somution. From court room drama, to fighting a champion of all that is evil! Guide your players to rid the world of threat to all! The reward is also SURE to make your players eyes pop! ALL THE ADVENTURE!!!

I've ran this twice so far, once at my FLGS and once at the recent KantCon, and both groups loved it. It's a great story, and the magic item is always a good one. Gonna have to get the others in the story to find out what all happens!

One of the best adventures I have ever utilized. The storyline is excellent, it truly pulls you in and excites you for what it has in store for you next. Also, the backstory is superb.

Some spoilers: I had a really great time running this module and I think the players liked it as well. The first fight with the revenants was fun even though I forgot to add the wraiths to the 3rd round and the map and the terrain made it really interactive. The rogue managed to hide in a cliff and shoot from afar while the paladin jumped from wagon to wagon.

The NPCs were interesting and detailed enough. The players really didn't expect a trial and it managed to make the warlock shine a bit. Since the first encounter wasn't challenging enough to my veteran players (group of 4), I made the encounter with the devourer very strong and it almost TPKed the group so watch out for that. My players were fine with the challenge.

It was a good idea to give the magic item before the actual dungeon, it's a small but cool twist and it helped the paladin quite a bit!
